Trade show exhibiting is no easy task, much less trying to coordinate it overseas.

As an American Marketing person, I have had a backstage pass with American companies exhibiting in America, and now for companies exhibiting in Finland and abroad. I understand how intimidating it can be when you are tasked with making arrangements in a different time zone, in a different country, with different language barriers, cultures, organizer rules, discovering onsite marketing opportunities, meters vs. feet… the list goes on.

In the USA, exhibiting isn’t so scary, at least… it’s familiar. The bulk of the work is often left to the marketing or maybe salesperson who can either ship their old trusty pre-fab booth across America or maybe coordinate a local constructor. You can depend on the fact there is likely an Office Depot (or something like it) locally where you can have flyers printed if needed. If you forget something or something breaks, there is always a Walmart or Home Depot handy. Shipping products is also not so challenging or expensive as there are many ways you can get your products to the show.

In Europe, a lot more time is needed to plan ahead as there is not as much wiggle room to just wing it when you get there. Because of venue rules, it also may not be possible to get away with things that you are used to in the states.
