Gateway to the Persian Gulf and Northern Africa
Dubai has traditionally been considered as a gateway to the Persian Gulf’s and North Africa’s growing markets, and The BIG 5-event for its part has performed for many years as a great networking place for construction industry professionals to explore new products and industry trends.
Why is Dubai so attractive?
UAE economic thinking is based on an open model, and its special features are a high budget surplus and a very high gross domestic product. Originally wealthy oil country does not want to remain dependent on the oil and gas industry, and as a result of systematic work of their share of GDP is currently only about 25%. Exports of oil and gas, of course, account for an ever larger share.
In particular, Dubai has managed to attract foreign companies to the region through the establishment of free trade zones, which enable one hundred percent foreign ownership and tax-exempt income. In general, the atmosphere is favorable for international business development and expansion.
Growing population generates new building projects
UAE population has grown rapidly since the establishment of the state (1971) when the inhabitants were only 200 000.
In the coming years the whole Middle East region, but especially the GCC countries are about to make substantial investments in infrastructure, energy and construction projects. In particular, the new regulations for promoting sustainable development in construction offer entirely new possibilities for producers of energy-saving materials and products and for suppliers of new ecological solutions.
Dubai’s attractiveness will be further enhanced by the World Expo, which will be held in the city in 2020. Other industries are clearly also doing well, an example of which is the Dubai Healthcare City project, whose focus is on healthcare research, development and education.
The Big 5 2016 promises to be even bigger and better than ever before and will see professionals from multiple disciplines from the construction industry attend the show.
Wulff Entre has been organizing companies’ participation in The BIG 5 yearly since 2003.
